Along the river lies the Torre del Oro, a watchtower that once protected the city from enemy ships. The Palacio de San Telmo, formerly a university, now serves as the seat of the Autonomous Government.
There are plenty of museums to visit, such as the History Museum and the Museum of Arts and Traditions. Seville is also famous for its parks and gardens, including María Luisa Park and the gardens of the Royal Palace. Additionally, the city is renowned for its theaters, like the Lope de Vega, and its music especially flamenco, the world-famous folk music and dance style of the Andalusian Gypsies, which dates back to the 18th and 19th centuries.
